Senior Design Team 304: Fitness Armband
Abstract
Current, active-duty military personnel of the Department of Defense (DoD) are evaluated every year to determine if they meet heath standards. This is done through a series of fitness tests that include various physical activities. Only testing once a year is not enough to judge the overall health of their personnel. A good way of monitoring the health of a person is using a smartwatch. However, these smartwatches have security issues that the military would consider to be unsecure.
To address this issue, our project aims to create software that provides a secure way to obtain health data from a wearable fitness device. The data can be sent over a secure network and viewed in a central location using graphs and charts. The designed software is paired with an existing Garmin Fenix 7 smartwatch. This software can be used with any fitness armband designed with security in mind. It allows authorized personnel to view multiple users’ health data on the centralized dashboard. The DoD can then use the results to further analyze the overall wellness of their users.
