Control Systems

This lift is being run on a pneumatic system.  Air is being supplied to pistons to provide the force necessary to lift the yarn.  The airflow is being controlled by an electrical system.  The electronic device that is controlling the air is a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller).  It contains a collection of logic circuit elements that can be customized in different ways.  A PLC can be viewed as a “black box” that contains logic gates and programmable switches.  The programmable switches allow the logic gates inside the PLC to be connected together to implement whatever logic circuit is needed.  This device has the function of either releasing the air through the tubing, stopping the airflow, or reversing the airflow to the reset the lift to its original position.
