A signed confidentiality agreement with Shaw Industries, Inc. is required from both FAMU-FSU faculty representatives and the students on the team. The engineering students are required to perform three main tasks.
1. The first of these objectives is to review the scope and the process as laid out in the correspondence from the company.
2. Next, the students are responsible for brainstorming engineering solutions to ergonomically doff and transport packages as described in the scope. Shaw Industries is requesting the students to provide original ideas and solutions to complement the existing process equipment.
3. The final step of this process is to perform a benefit and cost analysis for the recommendations that are decided upon. A minimum return on the investment of forty percent is preferred.
