Work Breakdown Structure

In order to begin working on our project the group had to establish an even distribution of the workload. The different tasks were assigned based on the background and areas of expertise of each of the group members. This group is composed to two mechanical engineers, two electrical engineers, and three industrial engineers. That means that there are seven people to work on the many different tasks to be completed. No one person is given more work than they can handle or not enough time to complete any given assignment.

The work is broken down based on the deliverables that are due for this course. That gives seven different headings under the Design of an Ergonomic Package Handling System. The work breakdown structure is a three level chart. The seven subheadings were dived into further group of individual tasks to be completed. Each task is given a number and all other assignments relating to the same category will be given a number in sequential order based on which category it falls into.

The system of numbering assignments will be used on all documents produced by this group. From sketches to engineering drawings to reports, they will all reflect the work breakdown structure. This is just an easy way of keeping things organized and an example of the professionalism that is expected from us in this course. In being engineers it is expected that everything we do will be presented in an orderly manner with attention to details. It is also a way of outsiders to be able to follow the steps we took in the completion of this project.
