The 2006 Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Final Review and Open House

The final review for the ME senior design projects took place on April 6, 2006. For the first time ever, the presentations took place at the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS), while the Open House was held, as usual, at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.

The design teams made presentations between 9AM and 4PM to a panel of judges composed of COE faculty and industrial representatives who came to evaluate the teams and the overall program: Joel House and Philip Flater (Air Force Research Laboratory/Eglin AFB), Jim Sturges, David Bogle, and Tendai Mafarachisi (all from Lockheed-Martin), Nathan Brooks (CERN, Geneva, Switzerland), and Daniel Buck (Fillauer) as well as advisory board members Robert Barlow, and Irwin Mendelson. We also had guests from AFRL/Eglin AFB, Martin Eilders and Henry Pfister; Jeffrey Phipps and Jeff Mitchell from Growth Innovations, and Greg Wurm and Craig Kirkland from Talla-Tech

Following the presentations, the teams moved to the College of Engineering and conducted an open house with project displays/posters. This was a venue for the entire college to see what the ME seniors had worked on during the capstone course, and also provided an opportunity for the judges and guests to further interact with the teams

After the open house the students, faculty, and guests enjoyed a social hour/pizza dinner.

These pictures document the event, which was not only a lot of fun, but also an opportunity to share with the entire College and our industrial partners the pride felt y the ME Department in the 2006 graduating class.
