Let's mow some grass

The purpose of the Autonomous Lawnmower Project is to redesign an independently functioning lawnmower capable of quickly and accurately mowing a rectangular field of grass using Global Positioning System (GPS) for location and navigation purposes.

 OBJECTIVE

  1. Integrate GPS technology.

  2. Eliminate rotational blade vibration problems.

  3. Make the mower weatherproof.

  4. Secure all wiring connections.

  5. Use as much existing equipment as possible.

  6. Keep the total cost production under $2000.

The completed Autonomous Lawnmower and corresponding report will be entered into the 3rd Annual ION Autonomous Lawnmower Competition held at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio on July 1-3, 2006 with the goal of winning first prize.
