Problem Statement
Our project involves developing a new excitation method
for performing a high cycle fatigue test on crankshafts for
diesel engines.
Design Needs
Cummins has requested a design for a new method of exciting
the inertial weight and crankshaft system to resonance using
electromagnets.
To accomplish this goal we have elected to develop
a testing platform on a smaller scale. A smaller crankshaft
was selected from a Briggs & Stratton single cylinder
motor.
The new testing assembly must have a controller to
accommodate the system.
