Pictures and Information

The pictures and information below shows the materials that we will use in the construction of our senior design project and what the will be used for.  Pictures of materials are of stock materials before they were machined.

Base Plate

Material Type: Stock Aluminum

Material Dimensions: 12”X24”X0.5”

Info: The base plate will be the foundation of our test bed and will provide a strong and sturdy footing.

Input Bearing Block

Material Type: Stock Aluminum

Material Dimensions: 4”X6”X12”

Info: this material will construct the entire input bearing block. A section will be taken out of the center to provide the upper bearing block in our design.

Cross-Slide Rotary Table

Material Type: Steel & Cast Iron

Material Dimensions: -

Info: The cross-slide rotary table is the heart of our design.  This table will allow us to translate 4” in the X & Y directions as well as 360 degrees of rotation.

Controller

Material Type: Plastics and Metals

Material Dimensions: 3”X5”1”

Info: Servo amplifier brush type with 25A and 80A by Advanced Motion Controls.

Adaptor Plate

Material Type: Steel

Material Dimensions: 4”X12”X0.1875”

Info: this material will hold the output bearing block and motor housing in place on the cross-slide rotary table.

Bearings

Material Type: Ball Bearings, Double Sealed

Material Dimensions: B=0.5” OD=1.125”

Info: These bearings will be press fit into the bearing blocks and hold the shafts in place.

Gear Set 1

Material Type: Stainless Steel

Material Dimensions: B=0.1875”

Info: 1:1 Straight Bevel

Gear Set 2

Material Type: Harden Steel

Material Dimensions: B=0.5” and 0.3125”

Info: 2:1 Spiral Bevel
