Communication `This is a very important aspect of a group project. We, as a team, must communicate very well with each other in order to move forward with our project. If a team fails to communicate, scheduling issues or even project quality could be greatly affected. Each group member has exchanged phone numbers with one another and is expected to keep up the communication through phone or in class.
Roles In order to keep all of the work focused on and organized, each team member will be assigned a specific role to be kept throughout the project. For our group, these are the roles we have decided on:
Team Leader – This person will be the overall leader of the project decisions but will have to fully receive and understand the opinions of the rest of the team.
Treasurer – This person will be in charge of the project budget and will have the responsibility of researching the prices of certain materials and/or devices that will be used for the duration of the semester.
Planner – This person will have to coordinate between group members’ schedules in an attempt to find out when the best time to meet and/or work on the project is.
Scribe – This person will be the person to write down everything that is significant during the bulk of the work being done on the project. This includes during meetings, experiments, and even research or brainstorming of ideas.
Conflict Resolution If there is a conflict within our team, it must be brought to the table immediately and effort must be made to resolve the conflict as soon as possible. While doing this, the team members must keep in mind to be respectful to one another as well as expressing opinions thoroughly. If different members of the team cannot decide on a single answer, compromise must be made and agreed on by the entire team.
Decision Making Even though there is a team captain, the decision making will be up to the group as a whole and every major decision must be discussed with the group before the final decision is made. If a single team member doesn’t agree on some part of the project that is taking place, he/she has the right at any time to stop and discuss the details.
Weekly Tasks At the beginning of every week, discussions will take place by the entire group on what needs to get done that week. If we do not have lecture, the group will meet up and work on the project regardless. Individual tasks could be assigned to certain members of the group, and it is their responsibility that the work get completed and agreed upon by the rest of the group. If a task is too difficult or time consuming it is up to the responsible team member(s) to ask for assistance from the other team members far enough in advance in order for the task to be completed.
Team Dynamics The ultimate goal of this group is to complete this project and to be able to obtain significant results that are qualified for a meaningful presentation. The best work will come from the group working hard, but also working well together as a team. Good communication, respect for others, and professionalism will be needed to assure quality work.
Integrity (Ethics) For the duration of the semester, it is in each of the team member’s hands to work as a group to attend meetings, conduct experiments, and construct presentations along the way. These tasks will be completed in the most honest way possible and no work shall ever be shared or copied for the advantage of others. If something to this effect arises, the issue should be discussed immediately. While working together, the team members should respect everyone at all times and work by a code of professionalism. Respect will be given to any and all of the faculty and staff of the COE as well as the sponsors during project meetings. |
