The final review for the ME senior design projects took place on April 15, 2010 at the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS), 2000 Levy Ave., Tallahassee, FL 32310. The Open House was held on the same day at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering Building Connector (1st and 2nd floors).
The design teams made presentations between 9AM and 4PM to a panel of judges composed of COE faculty and industrial representatives who came to evaluate the teams and the overall program:
Dr. William Cooper and Dr. Joel House (Air Force Research Laboratory/Eglin AFB), Robert Parsons (Danfoss Turbocor), Dr. Charles Lewis, M.D. (Mergenet Medical), and Thomas Wheeler (Mosaic), as well as advisory board members Craig Mooney (Lockheed-Martin), Mathew Christensen (Harris Corp.), and Irwin Mendelson (Consultant).
Beside the panel of judges, other attendees include staff from National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL), High-Performance Materials Institute (HPMI), Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS), fellow students, parents, and loved ones who have been supporting the teams over the course of the projects. Vice-President (Research) Dr. Kirby Kemper was also among the attendees who were present.
Following the presentations, the teams conducted an open house with project displays/posters at the College of Engineering. This was a venue for the entire college to see what the ME seniors had worked on during the capstone course, and also provided an opportunity for the judges and guests to further interact with the teams
After the open house the students, faculty, and guests enjoyed social interraction with refreshments and snacks.
These pictures document the event, which was not only a lot of fun, but also an opportunity to share with the entire College and our industrial partners the pride felt by the ME Department in the 2010 graduating class.
