Summary:
A compressor is being designed for a vapor-compression refrigeration system. Rather than the conventional approach of using a motor and crankshaft driven piston to compress the refrigerant fluid, it has been proposed to use steam to enable compression. The motivation for this concept is to be able to generate steam and power the compressor using concentrated solar heat.
