Strength Assisting Orthotic

Strength Assisting Orthotic

PowerFlex Industries is working on developing a prototype for a powered strength enhancing orthotic arm. Using engineering designing methods to create this device the main constraints for this project are safety, lifespan of the device, power, and price. This power arm will allow users to bear a heavy load or increase torque for increased lifting capabilities. A minimal loss in natural movement with high flexiblity is desired as well. This project is sponsored by an entrepreneurship of Florida State University. Power-Flex Industries hopes to make a marketable project that will provide for a variety of consumers. This project has rehabilitation therapy applications, military applications, and a market for civilians in jobs such as lifting in warehouses and shipyards. Unlike other orthotics currently on the market we hope to make a lightweight orthotic with little to no loss in range of motion. We hope to provide an innovative idea to the growing field of exoskeletons. We are dedicated to provide a unique and usable system to take to the market. Our mission is to be on theforefront of technology and innovation, delivering superior capability intandem with maximized cost efficiencies. This project will hold the samestandards of innovation, integrity and ethics, and efficiency to meet the requirements of Florida State Univeristy.
