Virtual Reality Remote Controlled Vehicle Project (VRRC)

Thank you to the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering for funding and support of our project, as well as the HTC Vive virtual reality equipment. Thank you to our project advisor Dr. Jerris Hooker for his time, insight, and helpfulness, without which we would be lost. Thank you to our reviewers Dr. McConomy, Dr. Tung, and Dr. Yu whose inputs and criticism constructively helped us improve our project.

Future works include final presentation, engineering day demonstration, and final report.

Project Abstract

We were tasked with creating a real world vehicle that you control through a Virtual or Augmented reality connection. The user would place a HTC Vive goggles on their head to see what the vehicle sees and use the HTC wands to control it. Some might ask what the usefulness of such project outside of just making a cool toy or game would be. But we of the VR to Vehicle Design team see a bright future for technology like this as part of the future transportation revolution. It has the enormous potential applications in the field of infrastructure designs and constructions.
