Psyche Mission

Our mission is to build an interactive exhibit that generates interest in Psyche, a unique metal asteroid beleived to be the core of a previous planetesimal. The exhibit will feature a model asteroid, dance pads, and spacecraft pointers for interactivity. Psyche is worth exploring more because it can teach us more about our planet, as Psyche resembles the core of our planet (something we’ve never been able to look at before).

The exhibit will feature a model asteroid, dance pads, and spacecraft pointers for interactivity. Our job is to design, prototype, and build the exhibit. We will be testing it at the Open House event to track how effectively our exhibit is meeting our goals. We aim to attract people's attention, keep the user engaged, and teach them about the Psyche mission. Upon completion of our project, it will be submitted to the ACCelerate festival for a chance to be selected and featured in the Smithsonian Museum of American History during the festival.

Our Project

How we aim to inspire.

Interaction

The exhibit will feature multiple games and a variety of ways to play. It is better that users spend more time engaging, as they will be exposed to more information. Our goal is for users to interact with our exhibit for at least one minute.

Initial Impact

The exhibit is colorful and attractive, so to draw attention and keep users visually engaged. If the exhibit has not interesting at a glance, then it will fail to engage and educate any users. The goal is to attract as many people as possible and to spark their interest in the exhibit.

Education

Our exhibit aims to immerse visitors by placing them in the position of a Psyche researcher. The exhibit presents what we know about Psyche and aims to educate visitors about the Psyche mission and about the asteroid. This will be presented through the text panels containing information that are hidden until a game is completed. We will ask people what they learned from the exhibit after visiting it.
