Welcome to a new semester and to this course.  Hopefully this will be a productive semester for all of us.

Sept 3, 2002
  •     Groups have been assigned, click here to find your group.
  •     TA's email, office hours, etc have been posted.
  •     Download the problem for Sept. 4, lab.



Sept 4, 2002
  •   Homework Problems for next week have been assigned.  Due Date, Sept. 11, 2002    TA's email, office hours, etc have been posted.

Sept 13, 2002

Sept. 20, 2002
  • TEST no. 1 will be on Monday,  09/20/02.  It is a closed book test, you are allowed one 8.5 x 11 in, hand-written, formula sheet (one side only)
  • Problems for Homework No. 3 can be found under Homework Assignments.  Due date: Sept. 27, 2002.  This is NOT a group assignment.
  • Review session will be held on Monday, Sept. 23 in Room 105A, 5:30 - 7 P.M.

Sept 23, 2002

  • Solutions for Lab assignments # 1 and 2, and for HW # 1 and 2 are placed in the library

Sept. 27, 2002:

  •      Test No. 1 will be on Monday,  09/30/02, please come to class on time.
  •      There was a mistake in the slide 3, Transient analysis notes.  The gravity term should be 'gz' not 'z'. The lecture notes have been corrected.

Oct. 11, 2002:

  • Homework for next week has been assigned. Details can be found here. 
  • Solutions of example problems have been placed in the library.
  • The First Progress Report for the group project is Friday, Oct. 18, 2002.  Note that this is different than the original due date.

    Oct. 15, 2002:
  • Workshop problems for this week have also been assigned and can be found here.

Oct. 17, 2002:

  • solutions for problems 3.70, 3.79 and 4.29 from YAC have been placed in the library
  • the answers for the problems covered in the lab on 16th oct are as follows:
    • 2.43: V=2.12 m^3; P=284.1 kPa
    • 2.47: (a) 0.03106 m^3/kg, 17.6% (b) 0.02609 m^3/kg, 1.2%
    • 3.36: W= -50.2 kJ

    Oct. 18, 2002:

    • Mon: 10:30 to 11:30 am

  • Test #2 on Wednesday (Nov. 13, 2002)

Nov. 12, 2002:

  • Test No. 2 will be on Monday, November 18, 2002.  It will cover chapters 3, 4, 5 and 6.
  • Note that there will only be TWO tests and a FINAL, instead of three tests and a final as was originally planned.
  • Due to the change in the number of tests, the grading scheme has been changed as follows:
  •    2 Tests  = 30 % (of final grade)
  •    Final  Exam =  25 % (of final grade)
  •    Homework = 15% (of final grade)
  • All other portions, e.g. quizzes, project, etc. will remain unchanged (see course syllabus).
  • THERE will be no LAB/WORKSHOP today (Nov. 13, 2002).

Nov. 15, 2002:
