    Overview

    Workshop

    Locally produced documents:

    • Getting Started with Matlab -- This is the document [minus putput] for our JumpStart in Computing class. It has been extensively tested and revised over a period of several years. It takes about two hours to work through completely, but will save you time in the long run. Please read it before sending questions.
    • Using Matlab with C -- The least you need to know about the subject.
    • Graphics, Terminals and Distributed Computing -- Back in '94, these newfangled notions were almost revolutionary. Providing free consulting support still is.

    • Toby Driscoll is now a postdoctoral researcher here at the University of Colorado. He is sharing the following treasures with the world:
      • Eigenmodes of isospectral drums - illustrating the answer [discovered in 1991] to the question, "Can you hear the shape of a drum?"
      • Schwarz-Christoffel conformal mapping page and SC Toolbox
    • ATLAST - Augment the Teaching of Linear Algebra through Software Tools - an NSF project, offering some pedagogical m-files.
    • Solving Problems with Maple and Matlab FTP site at ETH -- m-files and Maple worksheets that go with an excellent book. A major resource.
    • Defining Transfer Functions in Matlab - tutorial.
    • User Interface Toolbox - 170 Matlab m-files and Excel macros to assist the processing and display of experimental data.
    • BPKIT - Block Preconditioning Toolkit, or the iterative solution of linear systems.
    • LIPSOL Matlab toolkit for solving linear programs by interior point methods
    • Stixbox, "rudimentary" statistics toolbox for Matlab.
    • Time-Series Analysis toolbox can be used for ARMA and to calculate correlation dimension, for example.
    • FlexTool Genetic Algorithm Tool (commercial).
    • L1IDTool, l1-identification toolbox for Matlab, for identification, validation and estimation of uncertainty of discrete dynamic models based on linear programming.
    • SaGA Toolbox - Spatial and Geometric Analysis tools - maps, Boolean operations with polygons, Delaunay triangulation, Voronoi diagram, convex hull.
    • QMG, a free fully automatic two and three dimensional unstructured finite element mesh generation software, which can generate meshes for complex polyhedral domains with nonmanifold features. QMG is written in primarily in C++ and is a collection of m-files and mex-files that run under Matlab.
    • Planar Manipulators Toolbox for simulation of n-DOF planar manipulators with revolute joints, using MATLAB and SIMULINK.
    • DigComT (commercial) - the Digital Communications Toolbox provides a variety of useful tools for the analysis, design and development of modern digital communications systems.
    • MATCOM - Matlab to C++ translator (commercial)
    • Matlab Astronomy Library at the University of Western Ontario - Matlab codes for analysing astronomical data.
    • LEX and YACC for MATLAB - "There is no formal specification for the MATLAB language. We believe that the developing of MATLAB compilers or translators will be easier if there exists one." A service to humanity.
    • Matlab FTP site at FUNET (Finland)
        TESTMATS (Test matrices)
        TSINTER (Time series interpolation package)
