• Students in section 1 are strongly encouraged to take the exam along with section 2 if they possibly can. This gives a little bit more time to study and provides more uniformity between sections.
• For section 1 only, during the normal section 1 exam 1 time, we will do the review lecture that got lost because of MLK day. Students who cannot take the section 2 exam and take the exam on the regular section 1 time (i.e., during the review) are encouraged to attend the section 2 review if they can.
• Exams are closed book.
• You can bring one letter-size, single-sheet, handwritten formula sheet to the exams. Copies of handwritten sheets, or of anything else, are not acceptable. You can write on the sheet whatever you want.
• You can bring a calculator.
• Tables provided will be A.1-A.6, A.7.1, A.8, B.1.1-B.1.4.

• Homework assignments for each lecture are listed in the schedule below.
• Homework is not graded, but you will certainly need to do it to be able to pass this class.
• You should make it a habit to complete the homework of each lecture by the time of the next lecture. Solutions will be posted on the web site that Tuesday or Thursday, at 1 pm (after the next TR lecture, in short.) They will be at http://www.eng.famu.fsu.edu/~dommelen/courses/eml3100/04/hw/index.html.
• Homework cannot be comprehensive; our selection is intended to give you an hint whether you have major gaps in the most important parts. We are open to suggestions for improvement, but of course, realistically students only have so much time.
• If you notice any gaps, we recommend that you go over the "Concept-study guide problems."
• If you have problems solving the homework problems, go over the "Concept-study guide problems." If you still have problems, please ask for help from the instructors or TA; office hours are listed above. There is not going to be a Deus-ex-machina to allow you to miraculously solve the problems on the exam that you could not do in the homework.
• Working together on homework is highly recommended. You will see more, and catch more mistakes. And it is more fun too.
• Looking at the solution, either on the web site or from another student, while doing the homework or, worse, instead of doing the homework, is going to give you a false sense of security. You will almost certainly be in for a very unpleasant shock at the exams. Please help us reduce the class size next time by passing this time.

• Class times for section 1 are MW 8:00-9:15 in B135 (new building)
• Class times for section 2 are TR 11:45-1:00 in 337 (old building)

Important Regulations

• Immediately check the dates listed above for any conflicts.
• No makeup exams will be given. A zero grade will be assigned instead.
• Students must check their e-mail to the address they gave the instructor at least once a day. Failure to do so may result in missed exams and/or other problems.
• Attendance is required.
• You may bring one handwritten, letter-size, single sheet formula sheet to each exam and the final. Copies of handwritten material are not acceptable. You should also bring a calculator and paper.
• Students are bound by the rules and regulations in their University bulletin, as well as by those specified in this syllabus, and by the usual standards applied by the College of Engineering. Read your academic bulletin. Violations of the rules and regulations in your bulletin may result in reduced grades and/or other actions.
• Students are bound by the honor code of their university. It requires you to uphold academic integrity and combat academic dishonesty. Please see your student handbook. Violations of your honor code may result in reduced grades and/or other actions. Students will be referred to the Associate Dean of FAMU-FSU College of Engineering for disciplinary action. Students are cautioned that the disciplinary sanctions for academic dishonesty can be quite severe.
• In final analysis, your grade is based on your unambiguous demonstration of mastery of the material. Factors that make your demonstration uncertain to the instructor, such as copying, will cause you to fail the class. This will be in addition to any sanctions for academic dishonesty.
• The College of Engineering has a more restrictive drop-add period than you might think based on your bulletin. Check both your bulletin and the Dean's office to determine whether drop-add will be allowed.
• Some of these rules may not apply if you fall under the Americans with Disabilities Act. FAMU students with disabilities needing academic accommodations should contact Student Health Services for confirmation of permanent physical disability, FSU students should register with and provide documentation to the Student Disability Resource Center. Next bring a letter to the instructor from the Services or Center indicating you need academic accommodations. This should be done during the first week of classes.
• The instructor might wave some regulation on a case-by-case basis depending on his/her subjective determination of fairness and appropriateness. This will occur only under exceptional circumstances and should not be assumed. Especially, never assume that a seemingly minor regulation will be waved because the instructor has waved it in the past. A second appeal to wave a minor regulation will probably indicate to the instructor that the regulation is not being taken seriously and most likely refused. Any appeal to the instructor will further be refused apriori unless it is done at the earliest possible moment by phone and/or by E-mail. Do not wait until you are back in town, say.
• Make sure you keep all returned graded tests until you have received your final course grade, in case discrepancies arise.
