• There is a lack of clear understanding of the the behavior of layered composites systems under high velocity impact loading conditions.

• This proposed effort will develop micromechanics based constitutive relationships validated by experimental data

• The micromechanics model will include the effects of
  • Material heterogeneity effect
  • Viscoelastic/plastic behavior of the materials, and
  • Progressive damage growth .

4. Numerical implementation of the validated models will be developed (subroutines), and incorporated in the computer codes.
