Normalization of Data
Step 1: Calculate the amount of acoustic energy stored in the instability cycle which is to be controlled.
• instantaneous acoustic energy density
• average acoustic energy
Step 2: Use Rayleigh’s Criterion to estimate the amount of controlled heat release rate, which is needed for offsetting the acoustic energy in Step 1.
• change in acoustic energy due to heat release
Step 3: Use the heat release rate in Step 2 to normalize the amount of controlled fuel flux used in experiments.
