Initial Conclusions
Low Mach number cavity oscillations are the result of an interaction between forced acoustic response of cavity and the amplification of feedback disturbances by the shear layer
Active flow control can be effective for noise control
Segmented, active leading edge effective for control
OL and CL produce similar suppression in SPL (up to 20 dB) but mechanisms are fundamentally different
CL requires approximately one order-of-magnitude less power than OL
- lower cost of CL control
- longer life of actuators
