The Site Investigation Laboratory is located in Room B 119. For all practical purposes, this room is for storage of site investigation equipment. The laboratory and equipment serve the needs of one undergraduate course, CEG 2202; Site Investigation, and the occasional Directed Independent Studies on advanced survey methods. Most of the work done for Site Investigation Lab is outdoors. The space in B 119 occasionally serves for Site Investigation class preparation, demonstration and discussion prior to going into the field. In this lab students become familiar with surveying terminology, taping operations, reading a level rod, setting up and operating levels, theodolites and electric range finders, and entering information in their fieldbooks. After the students are trained in the use of the equipment, they are divided into groups and pursue their projects using the surveying equipment.
