Problem 1: Thermal Pollution

Consider a thermal pollution problem where a heated air with a density of tex2html_wrap_inline153 is discharged vertically with a velocity of V through a chimney ( high H and diameter D) into a horizontal crosswind at a velocity of U and an ambient density of tex2html_wrap_inline155 . It is found that for this problem viscosity is not important other than creating turbulence but the buoyant force tex2html_wrap_inline157 is important in determining the spread and bent of the hot plume. Use the dimensional analysis to find the partinent dimensional parameters that govern the phnomenon. Also interpretate the physical significance of these parameters.
