Safety is of the utmost importance in the Transport Laboratory and is integrated into the curriculum in order to minimize the risk of accidents and incidents. A brief summary of some of the more significant rules of the Transport Laboratory follows.

Clear lens goggles or safety glasses with side shields must be worn at all times. |

NO: food, gum, beverages, smoking, or chewing tobacco. |

Do not place feet on chairs desks or counters. Do not sit on counters. |

Laptop computers should be on tables rather than counters and should be cordless if possible to minimize tripping hazards. |

NO: scarves, hats, caps, shorts, skirts, dresses, sleeveless tops, loose jewelry, lab coats, or neckties. |

Shirts must be tucked in, windbreakers must be zipped, nothing should be tied around the waist. |

Shoes must be leather with good soles. |

NO: Canvas shoes, sandals, open-toed shoes, open-heeled shoes, nylons. |

NO: Horseplay, running, singing, dancing, socializing outside the team, lack of civility towards students or staff, using or reading material which does not pertain to the lab. |
