Applications ...

The Viscosity Experiment was able to display the effect of temperature and concentration on the viscosity of a mixture. It also familiarized the students with the pycnometer (used to find density) and the viscometer.

There are other means of obtaining viscosity...

Industrial Use Research Use Everyday Use
A more advanced means of determining viscosity is done on a daily basis and involves determining the velocity of  the substance within a reactor. To determine the ideal material for developmental use, viscosity is used. It is also used to check the compatibility of a given material with given processing conditions.   A simple method includes moving a paddle through a fluid at a constant force. Comparing the velocity of the paddle through one fluid to that of a second fluid gives a relative viscosity measurement.
