Students Portfolios in Geotechnical Design

CEG 4801

The following presents the students student learning tasks for CEG4801as related to the stated course objectives:

Course Objectives Student Learning Task Student Portfolio
  1. Apply the knowledge of soil mechanics in different geotechnical applications

  1. Students shall use their knowledge of soil properties, seepage and flow, consolidation, and shear strength to analyze and design various geotechnical systems.
-  Project portfolio on  seepage and flow nets, stresses in soil, soil properties and soil consolidation.

- Homework assignment

  1. Conduct standardized soil testing procedures to determine mechanical and index properties of soils. Also to analyze laboratory/ field testing results with respect to given practical problems
  1. Students shall conduct field and laboratory experiments using standardized testing procedures to determine shear strength properties of soils.
