In additional to Teaching Assistantship, faculty members in the department often provide financial assistance from research projects to support graduate students. A full graduate assistantship covers tuitions and stipends that generally meet the university¡¯s estimation of living costs in Tallahassee.

Admission Criteria for Ph.D.: Earned MS degree, GRE > 1100, TOEFL > 550, GPA >3.0 (on 0-4 scale)

Admission Criteria for Master: Earned BS degree, GRE > 1000, TOEFL > 550, GPA >3.0 (on 0-4 scale)

Position In Surface Water  Modeling:

Immediately available to support a graduate student¡¯s research (doctoral student preferred) in surface water hydrodynamic modeling or hydroinformatics (such as frequency analysis, advanced statistics, and neural network), and model applications in environmental and ecological assessments. The student will have opportunities to participate in the ongoing improvement and applications of advanced surface water models, and have opportunities to work on co-authored papers for publications in international journals that have been successful by previous students. Funding sources: USEPA, NOAA, NWFWMD.

Position in Coastal Environment and Ecosystem:

Funding is available to support a student (for master degree) to participate in NOAA-funded research program in coastal environmental and ecological study. Research activities include field observations, data analysis, processing of remote sensing images, environmental assessment, and risk analysis of coastal ecosystems (such as wetlands, lagoons, estuaries).

US students, especially minority students, are strongly encouraged to apply for this position.
