Since 1986, Dr. Yazdani has been able to procure about $3
million in external research funding. Dr. Yazdani's research is primarily
focused on two critical areas of concern in
Florida
and elsewhere:
-
the design and improvement of highway bridge infrastructure
-
disaster preparation, response and mitigation of infrastructure due to extreme
events
Other primary areas of research activities have been geared towards
the improvement of engineering education and concrete
material properties.
Research results from Dr. Yazdani's projects have been widely adopted and
practiced, mostly by state and federal agencies. Funding sources have included
the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), NSF, USDA, USDOT, FEMA, US
Army, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Florida Department
of Community Affairs (FDCA), and the Sea Grant program. Significant number of
papers have been published in top refereed journals, and presented at
national/international forums. A
number of other papers are awaiting publication.
