Kathleen Bodden
Fellow Description
My name is Kathleen Bodden. I am a BS-MS pathway student, about to begin graduate school. I attend Florida State University, getting my non-thesis Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. This is my first year in the BP-AE program where I will be participating as in the summer REU program. Im currently an undergraduate research under Dr. Taylor Higgins working on gray box model predictive control for an artificial pancreas. I plan to finish my graduate degree, having mastered dynamics and controls, and utilize my knowledge and experience in the industry.

Research
My current research project involves using a combination of analytical models and machine learning models to create a model predictive controller. The controller will use the model to predict how insulin infusion will affect the glucose levels of a patient in future time steps. Specifically focusing on the machine learning model which utilizes neural networks and APIs to analyze patient data from a Fitbit watch.
