Simulation:

This program allows you to see the effects of general relativity (GR) and special relativity (SR) on a fast moving spaceship/satellite. The user gets to pick speeds and trajectory options that change the amount of GR and SR that the object experiences. The program was developed with teaching about these concepts in mind.

Program Usage

Select the mode:

Liftoff, GFSP or Orbit Modes.

Select the option:
  • For Liftoff Mode: Pick an star/planet/satellite and a velocity step change.
  • For GFSP Mode: Pick a Speed.
  • For Orbit Mode: Pick a distance from Earth.
Start
  • Once the simulation starts it is possible to increase and decrease acceleration (only in Solar System Mode) and Pause the simulation.
Paused
  • If the simulation is paused it is possible to reset all the values with the reset button.
  • It is possible to also export the files. Pressing the export button will export two .csv files to the exportedFiles folder.

At any point in time the statistics are displayed at right, with values, and graphs.

Quitting the program will clear all values.
