Introducing the New Edition of the Small Arms Transmitter, an integral component in the MILES 2000 Program

Welcome to home page for FAMU/FSU College of Engineering Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Team #9, partnered with Lockheed Martin in the redesign of the Small Arms Transmitter, an integral part of the MILES 2000 gear.  The small arms transmitter (SAT) is roughly the size of a cellular phone and houses various electrical components such as a number of circuit boards, a switch, optical assemblies, etc.  We have been asked to redesign the package of these components with several design goals in mind including a reduction in weight, an overhaul of the mounting device, and a material change.  MILES has seen many changes since the late 1970's in many areas, and redesigning the SAT is the next step in its optimization.
