Team 11

Before presenting their finished products to the military, Talla-Tech must perform several tests on their products. One of these tests, is an impact test where the intention is to subject the PDAs and computers to a free-fall at a given height. This test aspires to simulate a real drop of the devices, as close as possible as it would happen on the battle field. To perform this test, the device being tested must be oriented before the drop on every surface, every edge and every corner, for a total of 26 different orientations.

Currently, Talla-Tech performs this test manually, this creates some consistency problems because the height and orientations may vary from one user to the other or even from one drop to the next one.

Talla-Tech has asked us to design and build a drop test station that can adapt to all their products, perform drops at different heights and provide all the orientations in an accurate and repeatable way. Also a computer interface is needed to facilitate handling and storage of data and test results.
