These designs were created in order to fulfill Lockheed Martin's request to simulate the wind felt by the occupants of a vehicle while traveling through the desert.  Lockheed also requested that wind bursts be added to the system that simulates winds caused by Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and other explosions.

It was decided that the task should be divided into two separate subsystems.  The first system would be the wind generation to simulate the forward movement of the vehicle, and the second system would handle the tasks of creating wind bursts as seen from IEDs and other explosions.
