Welcome!

The Aerodynamic Characterization Facility (ACF) of the Research and Engineering Education Facility (REEF) has requested a mounting device and an actuating mechanism in order to continue testing. This facility hosts an open subsonic wind tunnel with a maximum wind speed of 22m/s. The design must be able to adjust pitch (-5° to +30°) and yaw (-10° to +10°) while the tunnel is in operation and maintain the specimen in the center of the air flow.
The design features an arc with a square shaped cross-section. This arc will be actuated through the use of a flexible gear track fixed to the underside and a turn table at its base. A sting mount will be utilized to hold specimens.
The Air Force has generously granted a budget of $2000 for this project. The team will have to carefully analyze and choose components to stay within this budget. The procurement of the necessary components and materials for this design is underway and fabrication is expected to start at the beginning of Spring semester.
