Cummins Drone Delivery System

Project Plan

In the start of spring semeseter, the team will have a 3D printed prototype used to detect potential errors in the final design. Adjustments will be done to account for these before the end of the semester, allowing for a correct bill of materials to be made for purchasing. Purchasing will be done at the start as well, allowing time for parts to come in time. Once the necessary parts come in (mainly the Tarot 680 Pro), measurements will be made to ensure the design is accurate and compatible with the drone. The team will then progressively work on the different systems of the project simultaneously and communicate so that everything comes together smoothly. Towards the start of February, the team will begin to work on the final product by scaling for the 15 lb. delivery system. All systems except for motors and power should remain the same.

Build Plan

The plan for constructing the drone delivery system is to 3D print most of the 5 lb delivery mechanism. This is the lightest solution and will therefore not expend too much of the drone power. As the functionality of each subsystem is complete, the team will begin to compile everything onto the drone. When necessary, proper modifications will be made after testing. Moving through the testing phase, the team will devise a plan for building the full-size model. Lightweight materials that can reach the required weights will be determined. Building and testing with this model will be later in the system as most of systems testing will have already been performed.
