Phase 1: Final System Integration | Complete by APR. 3
Complete full system integration by assembling mechanical, electrical, and control components into a fully operational prototype. This phase includes verifying component compatibility, ensuring proper alignment and fastening of mechanical elements, and confirming communication between all subsystems for initial functionality.
Phase 2: Design Testing & Troubleshooting | Complete by APR. 7
Conduct testing using Psyche simulants to evaluate system performance, identify potential failure modes, and assess collection efficiency under realistic conditions. Data will be collected and analyzed to guide troubleshooting efforts and determine necessary design adjustments.
Phase 3: Refinements & Preliminary Demonstration | Complete by APR. 10
Implement design refinements based on test results, focusing on improving system reliability, geometry, and overall performance. A preliminary demonstration will be conducted to validate improvements and ensure the system meets key functional requirements.
Phase 4: Final Demonstration & Documentation | Complete by APR. 14
Perform final system validation through comprehensive testing and demonstration of full functionality. Complete all project documentation, including design decisions, analysis, testing results, and system capabilities for final submission.
Phase 5: Engineering Design Day | APR. 17
Present the completed sampling system, demonstrate functionality, and clearly communicate design approach, testing results, and overall project outcomes to faculty, industry representatives, and peers.
Graduation | MAY 1
