After the Thesis: Publish your results.
Very few people read a thesis. Hence, for your research to become visible it is vital that you publish it in refereed journals and technical conferences.
Refereed journals are “archival” and are viewed the most highly, especially by tenure committees.
Technical conferences allow early dissemination of (possible preliminary) results.
(Typically, my students submit their research for publication before they actually write their thesis.)
