- The performance of pulse magnets is limited by the characteristics of the conductor material which must have high strength to resist the Lorentz forces and high electrical conductivity to reduce Joule heating.
- Precipitation hardening and work-hardening or fiber strengthening plus work hardening have shown to lead to hardening without large drop in conductivity.
- Cu-Ag and Cu-Nb microcomposites are the most promising conductor materials because of their high tensile strength and conductivity values.
