Continuum Mechanics

Objectives

In order to be able to judge when various fluid mechanics results may be used, we need to know what are the basic terms such as Control Volumes and Lagrangian detivatives. We also need to understand when we cannot approximate the fluid as a continuum.

Performance Criteria

• Ability to define the vocabulary
• Can identify control volumes and material (Lagrangian) regions in applications
• Can transform Lagrangian (substantial) derivatives to moving coordinates
