Since 1991, Dr. Yazdani has
served as the Director of the multi-disciplinary Infrastructure Research Laboratory at the Civil
& Environmental Engineering Department. The cumulative sponsored research
funding over the years is about $8
million, and about $13 million including Centers and Partnerships. The Infrastructure

focused on two critical areas of concern in Florida
and elsewhere:

preparation, response,
mitigation
and
recovery
of infrastructure due to extreme
events
Other primary areas of research activities have been geared towards
the improvement of engineering education and concrete
material properties.
Research results from have been widely adopted and
practiced, mostly by state and federal agencies. Funding sources have included
the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), NSF, Homeland Security, NOAA, USDA, USDOT, FHWA, FEMA, US
Army, Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), Florida Department
of Community Affairs (FDCA), and the Sea Grant program. Significant number of
papers have been published in top refereed journals, and presented at
national/international forums. A
number of other papers are awaiting publication.
A multi-disciplinary
Center for Infrastructure Hazards (CIH): Preparedness, Mitigation, Response and
Recovery
is currently in the final stages of establishment at the CEE Department under
the Directorship of Dr. Yazdani. Further details will be available soon at this
