Group 6: Submersible Robot Project

Welcome to the website for Group 6 of the 2006-2007 FAMU-FSU College of Engineer: Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Project. This site is meant to familiarize any interested party in Group 6's research and its results.

Group 6's project was to design and create a submersible robot that could traverse the Wakulla caverns systems and collect vital data that group 6’s sponsor, Dr. Loper of the Woodsville Karst Plain Project, could use to determine the effects of pollutant runoffs. This would prove to be challenging project due to the unique and hostile nature of the operating environment

The pictures bellow show that the known cave systems, part of the Woodsville Karst Plain, span from Tallahassee and some parts of southern Georgia through Wakulla Springs all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico. These cave systems stretch for miles, most of which have not even been mapped. Mapping these systems could prove to be priceless information helping to deduce the effects of pollutant runoffs in the cave systems. For more information on the Woodsville Karst Plain please visit the Woodsville Karst Plain Project official website.
