Luis Mendez
Team Leader : Responsible for overall project direction and team communication. Keeps lines of communication open and insures project progresses in a timely fashion.
Mr. Mendez is a senior in the mechanical
engineering program at the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering. He
transferred to Florida State University in 2013 with an
Associates in Arts Degree in engineering. He was selected by his
team members to lead the design team. He has experience as a
project manager and event coordinator. Luis is a driven and
diligent individual and compliments the team well. He is working
towards finishing his engineering degree with the end goal of
employment in a manufacturing company or in the automotive field
as a means to gain real world experience and continue his
education.
Beau Rodgers
Financial Advisor : Oversees expenditures and budget records. Keeps group advised of financial considerations and options.
Beau Rodgers is an aspiring mechanical
engineer. He started his college career at North Florida
Community College where he received his AA degree. He is
currently a senior in Mechanical Engineering at The Florida
State University. His favorite coursework is thermal fluids and
material science. He recently completed a summer internship with
Georgia Pacific over the summer and has since landed a job as an
entry level engineer for the company upon completion of his
degree in May 2016. In his free time he likes to hunt and fish
along with other outdoor activities. He is a proficient
automobile mechanic, welder/fabricator, and carpenter. He also
operates heavy machinery for, and is a partner in a family
business “The Original Pudding Creek Mud Bogg”. Beau is focused
on graduating and moving forward in his career in mechanical
engineering.
Brian Roberts
Administrative Assistant : Duties include maintaining design documentation records, website design and communications with CE portion of project.
Brian Roberts transferred to the FSU/FAMU College of engineering in Summer of 2013 in pursuit of a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Now a senior, his area of specialization is in dynamics with a focus on control systems and mechatronic design. In addition he has experience programming and filtering analog or digital signals. Brian's several years of experience as a manager has taught him how supervise multiple people while maintaining focus on desired objectives. In addition to spending time with his wife and children, Brian enjoys reading and gardening. His future goals include finding employment in controls or design and pursing either a B.S. in Computer Science or a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering
Keenan Cheeks
Lead ME : In charge of mechanical design aspects of project. Informs group of design possibilities for consideration.
Keenan Cheeks is a dynamic,
creative and hardworking senior engineering student attending
the FAMU/FSU College of Engineering currently pursuing a BS
degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus in dynamics. His
strengths include a commitment to success, fast learning,
diligence and an attention to detail. He has been chosen to be
the lead mechanical engineer for the Danfoss Turbocor project.
In addition to graduating in spring of 2016, his long term goals
include working in the renewable energy field and obtaining a
master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
