Work Challenges
The Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition require a broad spectrum of Engineering discipline to accomplish Autonomous Navigation. To complete this task the work load has been split between two teams: The FAMU-FSU (COE) Team, and the Florida Institute of Technology Team.
Software tasks include:
- Real Time Course Building & Navigation
- Image Processing & Computer Vision
- Models & Simulations
- Motion Planning
- Position Estimation
- Software Metrics & Testing
Electronics related tasks:
- Power Diagrams
- Electrical Analysis
- Voltage Regulation & Noise Reduction
Mechanical tasks include:
- Motors & Motor Control
- Waterproofing
- Mechanical Properties Analysis
- Thermal Analysis
- Communications
- Vehicle Design & Fabrication
- Sensor Placement & Movement
Distributive Engineering: Bridging the Gap
Due to geographic separation both teams utilize various file sharing software to keep both teams working simultaneously.
Software:
- GrabCAD - To share CAD files and component drawings
- OneNote - Used for sharing project presentations and reports
- GitHub - Script and Program Code sharing
- Slackbot - general communication between all team members and advisors
- Google Hangouts - used for periodic teleconferences
