Products of the Smart Streetlight Proof of Concept Project
Above you can see the demo cart we built to show how the Smart Streetlight System works.
The major components of the cart are:
• 3 Streetlights
• 3 Wireless Transmitter Devices (one for each streetlight)
• An LCD Screen
• A Raspberry Pi Computer
• A Keyboard/Mouse
Each Streetlight was custom made and 3D printed by our team. They each hold a wireless transmitter device and have
LEDs to represent actual streetlights. Using the switches on top of each
light, power outages and blown lights can be simulated to test the system.
The LCD screen along with the Raspberry Pi make up the User Interface device.
From here a python program is run to both receive packets from the streetlights and to
display the results in a table. It is also capable of showing packets as they are received in real time.
