Wear hard hats, nitrile gloves, and goggles for protection. Nitrile gloves are recommended because they are
resistant to the chemicals used in our lab (n-heptane and ethanol).
•
Do not let the fluid in the column go above or below the red
lines.
•
If splashed by chemicals, immediately wash skin area thoroughly
for at least 15 minutes and report incident to lab manager.
•
If chemicals are spilled, immediately clean area using proper
procedures stated in the Material and Safety Data Sheet located in the lab.
•
Broken glassware should be placed into a properly labeled sharps
container while using caution.
•
Make sure someone is holding the ladder while another person is
using it to prevent one from falling.
If one were to fall, it may cause great physical injury.
