WEDGES AND SUPPORT PLATFORM

WEDGES:

To achieves the different orientations in a way that can be accurate and repeatable, the team decided to create different wedges that the user can place on the set up platform and rest the PDA against it, while the PDA is resting on the wedge that will provide the correct orientation, the support platform is lowered and slightly pressed against it to keep it in place. Finally the wedge is removed and the platform can be released to produce the drop.

SUPPORT PLATFORM:

The main function of the support platform is to hold the PDA in place after the orientation wedge has been removed. The support platform can move up and down through a hole in the support arm and its fixed at the desired position using a set screw. The platform consists of a 1/2" steel rod welded to a thin steel plate with some thick foam attached to it.
