Ryan Gilbert is a senior in Mechanical Engineering at FSU. He enjoys building and tinkering and hopes to work in the mechatronics field after he graduates. He is an Eagle Scout and graduated from Langley high school in Great Falls, Virginia. Ryan was on his high school robotics team, where they made it to the semifinals in the national FIRST Robotics Challenge. He enjoys tinkering and building things, and has even built his own guitar amp out of a cigar box and computer speakers. In his spare time, he plays guitar, builds models, and even makes replica medieval armor. Ryan has always been fascinated by robotics since childhood, and is particularly inspired by DARPA’s Big Dog and Pet Man. He is very excited to be working on the Robots for Relief project and hopes to win the gold medal at the SPDC competition in spring.
